The third seminar of the day which started at 12:30 pm, was conducted by Rohit Sarkar, an entrepreneur, who talked at large about agricultural growth and how it can be used as a tool to alleviate poverty.
He started off with showing statistics about Indian Economy and highlighted the importance of agriculture in its growth. He mentioned that how Agriculture plays a vital role in India’s economy and a large majority of the rural households depend on agriculture as their principal means of livelihood. Thus agricultural growth will lead to a boost in production which in turn will improve India’s economy. He was encouraging the Engineer minds to come up with feasible solutions using modern day technology for specific problems that he mentioned one after the other in the field of agriculture. The seminar gradually converted into an open debate forum where the participants challenged the ideas proposed by one another and tried to come up with a better one and Rohit Sir corrected the flaws in them.
He also touched upon the use of automation in this field.
The 1 hour seminar at no point felt boring and the budding entrepreneurs felt that it was worth their time as they learnt a lot of new things from the guest speaker.
